The MVP of Game Day Eats: Roosterspin
Roosterspin in Westfield, NJ is one of my favorite places because of it's New Korean offerings. The decor and ambiance is industrial and edgy with an artsy vibes. Decorated with reclaimed wood tables, ill cooper mugs, and records on records on records -- Roosterspin is nestled right next to the train station.
Their claim to fame is their double-fried chicken. Large brown paper bags filled with game day snacks were all lined up on this past Superbowl Sunday. The wings come in two epic sauces: soy garlic and spicy soy garlic.
In addition to their crispy, decadent chicken wings, we opted for the bulgogi bao buns and the crispy pork mandoo (dumplings). While I have been known to whip up my own bulgogi and mandoo, putting the squad to work shredding cabbage and folding dumplings...it was amazing to have a twist on the Korean classics I love. The portions aren't huge but they are amazingly delicious and savory.
Our server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and really loved the restaurant. They mentioned they are launching karaoke night and specials associated with their new karoake rooms in the coming weeks! It ain't surprising that the culture I was born into loves yummy food, karaoke, and squading up as much as I do!
